+++ Conference of Kurdish jurists and lawyers in Europe

We held a conference of Kurdish jurists and lawyers in Europe on 9 June in Cologne. The conference was organised in cooperation with the Association for Democracy and International Law Maf-Dad and the Initiative of Lawyers from Rojava. The cooperation is a result of the pan-European network meeting of Kurdish academic organisations and institutes in November 2017. Members of the Association of Ezidi lawyers and the Association of German - Kurdish lawyers also participated in the conference, last one with a speech on the very important issue of the Ezidi. Behind analyses of the juridical challenges and problems in Kurdistan as well as the Kurdish issue in Europe, the evaluation of juridical work and organisations and future perspectives were main topics of the conference. Expert on international law, Prof. Dr. Norman Paech, and Eren Keskin, lawyer and co-chair of the Human Rights Association IHD held the opening speeches.

The European network meeting in November 2017 led to a cooperation with the Kurdish Institute and the Association of Kurdish Teachers. After some meetings for exchange, we are planning a conference on mother tongue and multilingualism. A first preparatory meeting was hold on 3 June.

+++ Kurd-Akad educational institutes

The professionalization of our work is also important for an intensification of working priorities in the field of research, science and education. Networking between Kurdish and correlating scientists, especially in our network is also necessary. For this reason, we decided to establish an educational institute. The scientific advisory board consists of young academics. The official opening will be hold on a symposium with Kurdish scientist at our annual reception.

+++ Kurd-Akad science award

After awarding the first honorary prize 2017, we are pleased to award the first science prize. Thereby we want to award especially young academics with an excellent expertise in their research field.
