Pan-European Network Meeting of Kurdish Institutes and Academic Organisations
On December 12 the third pan-European network meeting of Kurdish institutes and academic organisations was held online. The Association for Democracy and International Law MAF-DAD, the Association of Kurdish Teachers in Europe and the Kurdish Institute of Brussels gave important impulses regarding the challenges and perspectives for the Kurdish Diaspora.
Soft Skills Seminaries
In this quarter we offered to seminaries (layout and social media) in cooperation with the Kurdish Center for Public Relations Civaka Azad.
Honorary Award 2021
Prof. Kariane Westrheim, University of Bergen, Norway, and Prof. Dr. Dr. Ian İlhan Kızılhan, Institute for Genocide and Peace Research, Germany are the awardees of this year’s Honorary Prize.
In addition to the Honorary Award a Solidarity Prize will be awarded to imprisoned HDP MP Dr. İdris Baluken. Dr. Baluken is distinguished by his special commitment to a political solution to the Kurdish question and the democratisation of Turkey. His modesty gives him and his actions a special touch that should be appreciated. Not only as a politician, but also as a doctor – he is a lung specialist – he will be missed even more in these difficult times.
On January 29 our annual conference NRW will take place in cooperation with Volkshochschule Cologne and with the support of Rosa Luxemburg Foundation. The conference “Gender Studies meets Jineolojî II: Nature, Body and Gender – a re-update” in cooperation with the Marie Jahoda Center for International Gender Studies at the Ruhr University of Bochum and the Hochschule Emden/Leer will be held on February 18. On February 27 there will be a panel debate about the developments in South Kurdistan. The conference “Mother tongue and Multilingualism” will take place on March 1 in cooperation with the University of Dortmund. The second conference of Kurdish doctors is also being planned and will probably take place in spring.
