Conferences\u00a02018<\/strong>
The preparations for the\u00a0conference of experts,\u00a0that will\u00a0be held on 27 January 2018 in Cologne,\u00a0are completed.\u00a0Cooperation partners are the Volkshochschule Cologne and the Kurdish Center for Public Relations – Civaka Azad. Political scientist\u00a0Prof. Dr. Andreas Heinemann-Gr\u00fcder, political scientist Mahir Tokatli from University of Bonn, sociologist Dilar Dirik from University of Cambridge,\u00a0Executive Committee member of Kurdistan National Congress Adem Uzun, Co-Chair of Human Rights Association IHD Eren Keskin and Prof. Dr. Mithat Sancar, MP and jurists,\u00a0will discuss under the heading „Kurds in context of (de-)escalation in the Middle East“.\u00a0\u00a0Journalist Diana Hodali, political scientist\u00a0Rosa Burc and our Co-chair Dersim Dagdeviren are moderators of the conference.

The conference in Frankfurt on the subject of „Genocides in the Middle East and perspectives for reconcilliation“ will take place on 14 April 2018. Cooperation partners are the Heinrich B\u00f6ll Foundation Hessen and the Kurdish Center for Public Relations Civaka Azad. The conference is supported by Sebastian Cobler Foundation. Speakers are i.a. historian Prof. Dr. Mihran Dabag, historian Mehmet Bayrak and Leyla Imret, Co-mayor of Cizre.

Paneuropean network extension<\/strong>
We are pleased to announce the founding of Kurdish Academics Network Kurd-Akad in Switzerland on 16 December 2017 in Fribourg. We wish our friends success\u00a0for their further work.
Meanwhile our\u00a0third meeting of\u00a0Kurdish academics – all PhD\u00b4s and PhD candidates –\u00a0from different European countries took place in Brussels. We will intensify the networking.\u00a0\u00a0

European network meeting of Kurdish Institutes and academic organisations
14 of 23 invited organisations participated the\u00a0network meeting of Kurdish Institutes and academic organisations on 11 and 12 November. The evaluation of academic work on Kurds and Kurdistan in Europe, the\u00a0elaboration of requierements on research and science regarding Kurdish and correlating issues, the\u00a0developement of perspectives on an academic institutionalization and effective ways of networking were\u00a0 topics of the meeting. We are pleased to laying the foundation for a\u00a0future cooperation of these important playors.\u00a0We\u00a0established a group email for\u00a0an effective communication. Networking between scientist working at universities and research institutes, networking of organisations with\u00a0juridical Focus and cooperation of institutions that are working on establishing of Kurdish Studies or training of Kurdish\u00a0teachers\u00a0are\u00a0designated as\u00a0key objectives. First meetings will be held in January.\u00a0\u00a0

Paneuropean networking of politicians<\/strong>
We organised a European network meeting with Kurdish politicians in cooperation with HDP Europe and United European Left \/ Nordic Green Left on 8 December in the European Parliament.\u00a0The mission of\u00a0Kurdish politicians and the networking between them were the\u00a0main topics of the meeting. HDP MP\u00a0Prof. Dr. Mithat Sancar, member of our scientific advisory board, generated sicnificant impulses. A coordinating group for continuation of networking\u00a0was established.\u00a0

EUTCC Conference in the European Parliament<\/strong>
This year, we attended again the annual conference of\u00a0European Turkey Civic Commission (EUTCC) – our Co-chair is\u00a0board member\u00a0of EUTCC –\u00a0in the European Parliament.

Guest of state parliament NRW<\/strong>
On\u00a004.12 we met\u00a0Heike Wermer,\u00a0spokesperson of\u00a0CDU parliamentary group in the\u00a0integration commission, and Bj\u00f6rn Franken, member of CDU parliamentary group in the integration commission.\u00a0

Workshop migration<\/strong>
On\u00a007\u00a0October\u00a0we organized a workshop\u00a0entiteld „People\u00a0with\u00a0Kurdish migration background as thematic field of german migration research“\u00a0in cooperation with working group migration and inequality\u00a0studies of University Duisburg-Essen and Support of Interdisciplinary Center Integration and Migrations Research. Honorary Award<\/strong>
On 28 October we awarded our first honorary prize for outstanding scientific expertise and and to the universal values of Humanity to world-renowned linguistic and\u00a0cognitive scientist Prof. Dr. Noam Chomsky and the kurdologist Prof. Dr.\u00a0 Cel\u00eel\u00ea Cel\u00eel. The award ceremony took place with guest from politics, science and society in the Rautenstrauch\u00a0 Joest Museum – Cultures of the World, our cooperation partner.
