Board meetings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n These took place on 31.01 and 03.03.2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Panel discussion on Syria and Rojava <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n On 16 January 2025, we held an online panel discussion entitled „The new order in the Middle East: conflict constellations, hegemonic aspirations & prospects for solutions“. The speakers were Dr Salim \u00c7evik, German Institute for International and Security Affairs, Sinam Mohamad, representative of the Syrian Democratic Council to the US, and Prof Hamit Bozarslan, EHESS Paris. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Symposium NRW <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n On 25 January 2025, the annual symposium took place in cooperation with the Volkshochschule Cologne and with the support of Civaka Azad. L\u00eeza Ko\u00e7, Civan Akbulut, Parthena Iordanidou and Ilyas Uyar spoke on the topic of „Doubly invisible: intra-migrant racism in Germany and the organised Turkish right“. <\/p>\n\n\n\n International Day of Women and Girls in Science <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n At an event to mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we honoured the winners of the Science and Young Scientists Award, Dr Shilan Fuad Hussain, UK, and Sorgul Selam, Rojava University. M\u00fcnevver Azizoglu-Bazan gave an introduction to the topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Cooperation with the universities of Rojava <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n On 20.02.2025 the symposium „Decolonising knowledge and science. Breaking the isolation and solidarity with the universities in North and East Syria \/ Rojava.“ was held online. The symposium is the result of regular meetings of the established working groups on topics such as international recognition, research, translation of scientific works and sources as well as teaching cooperation. A final resolution summarised key aspects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n New podcast series<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n We have launched a new podcast series entitled „The Rocky Road to Peace – Lessons from \u0130mral\u0131“. Together with Kurdish politician Adem Uzun, we look at the continuous endeavours of Abdullah \u00d6calan and the Kurdish freedom movement for peace and a democratic society since the 1990s. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Soft skills seminars <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Three seminars were held this quarter. The seminars are the result of a cooperation with the Kurdish Centre for Public Relations Civaka Azad. <\/p>\n\n\n\n DiploAlternative<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Our educational institute has launched a new series of seminars on the topic of diplomacy. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Dear members, Dear friends, We are pleased to send you our latest newsletter.
