We have therefore launched a signature campaign (see below).<br>We kindly request your signature via email (info@kurd-akad.com).<br>We are looking forward to your hopefully positive response.<br>Kind regards<br>Network of Kurdish Academics Executive Board<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Troops loyal to the Syrian transitional government are attacking Rojava with extreme brutality,<br>resorting to beheadings and kidnappings. This has led to a new wave of refugees, with numerous<br>cities being encircled and escape routes blocked. Dozens of people have been killed and hundreds<br>more injured. Critical infrastructure has been deliberately paralysed. Healthcare workers and<br>facilities are also being targeted. There are concrete indications of genocidal actions being taken<br>against the population of Rojava. Fundamental principles of international law and international<br>charters are being violated. Prisons holding thousands of IS fighters have fallen into the hands of<br>troops loyal to the Syrian transitional government, and a significant number of prisoners have<br>already been released. This has considerable implications for security policy far beyond the region.<br>The attitude of the international community is shameful not only against the backdrop of the global<br>threat posed by the terrorist organisation Islamic State.<br>The Middle East, which has been plagued by ethnic and religious conflicts for decades, urgently<br>needs stability. The democratic, ecological and gender-equitable principles in Rojava set a key<br>benchmark for the region&#8217;s progressive reorientation.
