All applications or nominations were excellent and the decision was very difficult. Both the Advisory Board and the Executive Board are proud of the academic expertise and especially the young competence. Aylin Karabulut from the University of Duisburg-Essen, was awarded the young talent prize. The physicist Dr. Mehmet G\u00fcnd\u00fcz from the Ruhr University Bochum received the science prize. The award ceremony will not take place this year due to the Covid pandemic.<\/p>\n<p><b>Symposium &#8222;Gender Studies meets Jineoloj\u00ee<\/b><br \/>\nThe symposium was held on 30 October in cooperation with the Marie Jahoda Center for International Gender Studies at Ruhr University Bochum and the University of Applied Sciences Emden\/Leer. The event was supported by the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation. The opening speech was held by our co-chairperson. Dr. Beate von Miquel, Director of the Marie Jahoda Center for International Gender Studies, also spoke at the opening. Speakers were the social scientist Dr. Dilar Dirik from the University of Oxford, the political scientist Dr. Christine L\u00f6w from the University of Frankfurt a.M., \u015eervin N\u00fbdem from the Jineoloj\u00ee Academy Qami\u015flo, the spokesperson of the International Initiative Freedom for Ocalan &#8211; Peace in Kurdistan, the historian Dr. Muriel Athenas from the Ruhr University Bochum and the political scientist Dr. Marlene Sch\u00e4fers from the University of Ghent. The conference was moderated by the peace and conflict researcher Dr. Mechthild Exo from the University of Applied Sciences Emden\/Leer and the social scientist M\u00fcnevver Azizo\u011flu-Bazan from the University of Bremen. Work on these topics will continue in the future.<\/p>\n<p><b>Conference of Kurdish doctors and allied professions<\/b><br \/>\nOn 16 January 2021, a conference specific to the professions will be held for the first time. In addition to a report on the developments around Covid-19, the conference will focus on the evaluation of health systems in Kurdistan, diaspora-specific challenges and humanitarian aid for Kurdistan. The programme is published on our\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kurd-akad.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.kurd-akad.com&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1609155356336000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHvoZD63KxpfjumCaX4VB4Uu2LG-A\">homepage<\/a>. The registration period ends on 5 January 2020 and for organisational issues we kindly ask you to register till 5th of January via\u00a0\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer\">info@kurd-akad.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Conference NRW<\/b><br \/>\nThe conference will take place in cooperation with the Volkshochschule K\u00f6ln on 30 January 2021.
