Board meetings
The meetings took place on 3 April and 3 May 2023.
Symposium in cooperation with the Amadeu Antonio Foundation
On 1 April 2023, the symposium entitled ‘Doubly Invisible: Inner-Migrant Racism in Germany and the Organised Turkish Right’ took place in Frankfurt. The book will be published at the end of the year.
Scientific Advisory Board
On 5 April, our scientific advisory board met for the first time. There was a lot of positive feedback and numerous impulses for future work.
Network for an Alternative Quest’s Conference
Hamburg University’s presidency has withdrawn premises of the conference “Challenging Capitalist Modernity IV” on Easter weekend on the basis of a recommendation by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution. The conference nevertheless took place thanks to good self-organisation and a broad solidarity network.
Conference on the Earthquake
In cooperation with the Society of Kurdish-speaking Psychotherapy Derûnnasî and the Association Pizîşkên Kurd, our Working Group of Doctors organised a conference entitled ‘Earthquakes in Kurdistan, Syria and Turkey – Permanent Trauma, Diaspora and Prevention’ on 30 April 2023.
Social media
The monthly Instagram Live Talks series Tea Time with the Kurd-Akad community has continued. The series now goes into a two-month summer break.
There was also a Twitter space on the occasion of the elections in Turkey.

Kurd-Akad has issued a statement regarding the elections and called on all voters to vote Erdoğan out of office and at the same time strengthen the Green Left party.
Pan-European Networking Meeting of Kurdish Institutes and Academic Organisations
On 3 and 4 June 2023 the 5th networking meeting took place in Brussels. The focus of the meeting was the topic ‘Diaspora, Diplomacy and the Kurds’.
