Events organised by the Coordination Group
To mark World Health Day on 7 April 2026, the Coordination Group of Kurdish Institutes and Academic Organisations held its second panel discussion entitled ‘The Anatomy of Peace: Health as a Strategic Imperative’.
To mark Constitution Day, the third panel discussion, entitled “The Law of Peace – Peace through Law”, took place on 27 August 2026.
Student Advisory Board
We have established a student advisory board. We look forward to fresh ideas, committed voices and shared visions for the future.
Symposium on the Dialogue Process
On 19 April 2026, we held a symposium entitled “Rethinking the Process for Peace and a Democratic Society in its Second Year”. Speakers included Prof. Mithat Sancar, Foza Yusuf, Dr Özgür Sevgi Göral, Assoc. Prof. Adnan Çelik and Mahmut Şakar. The proceedings will be published shortly.
Background paper on the 1996 Memorandum
We have drawn up a background paper on the continuity of dialogue and peace initiatives regarding the Kurdish question. In addition to a historical overview, it contains an analysis of previous processes and political
recommendations for action for Germany and the European Union. We have sent this to all Members of the Bundestag, foundations and civil society organisations.
Closed-door meeting
Productive discussions, valuable insights, an intensive exchange of views and concrete planning characterised our closed-door meeting on Saturday the 6th of June, entitled ‘National Unity of the Kurds: academic perspectives, social responsibility and European networking’.
Kurdish Language Day
On 15 May 2026, we took part in the panel discussion organised by the Kurdish Institute in Germany to mark Kurdish Language Day. Our conclusion: despite enormous challenges, significant achievements have been made in relation to the Kurdish language.
Global Academic Network for the Universities of Rojava
On 15 May 2026, we took part in the meeting of the Global Academic Network for the Universities of Rojava. Academic responsibility also means solidarity: for free education, critical exchange and alternative/progressive models.
