World Peace Day 2021

Kurdish versus Turkish Question: Realities, Rotations and Routes for Peaced Routen für Frieden

On World Peace Day 2021, Turkey is far from peace and democracy. The expansive foreign policy, also beyond the Middle East, as well as the massive repression of any political and social participation make this clear. The latter is by no means limited to Turkey, as attacks on opposition members in Germany, for example, show. The so-called Kurdish question is of central importance here. But is it really a Kurdish problem? There were and are Kurdish perspectives for peace, for Turkey and the entire region, as the example of the Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria shows.

With this debate, we would like to take an in-depth look at the different dimensions of autocratic state policy in Turkey today, especially the repression against opposition members, and point out possible perspectives for solutions, especially from a Kurdish perspective.
