+++ Kurd-Akad Executive Board Meeting
On 04.11 we held a board meeting in Frankfurt, where the opening of the Educational Center | Bildungswerk was the main topic. We also talked about the four conferences in the first Tertial 2019 and the ideas workshop.
+++ Kurd-Akad Educational Center | Bildungswerk
On 24.11.18, the opening event of Kurd-Akad Educational Center | Bildungswerk took place at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Dr. Luqman Turgut, Dr. Sharo Garip, Dr. Veysi Dag, Dr. Ulrike Flader and Nilüfer Koc of the Kurdistan National Congress particaped the event as guest and spoke about the essential topics „Kurdish women in science and research“ as well as „Academic perspectives for a pacification of the region“. The event continued afterwards with Kurd-Akad annual reception. At this part, additional guests as Professor Dr. Nicolle Pfaff of the University of Duisburg-Essen, who hosted the event, co-head of the Bildungswerk Professor Dr. Emra Ilgün-Birhimeoğlu, former HDP delegate and PD Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım and scientific adviser of the Bildungswerk Münevver Azizoglu-Bazan held speeches.
+++ Kurd-Akad Science Award
On the occasion of the opening of Kurd-Akad Educational Center Kurd-Akad has awarded the first Kurd-Akad Science Prize. It was a pleasure and honor for Kurd-Akad to honor the Kurdish Studies Network for its outstanding contribution to the scientific debate on Kurdish topics and the computer scientist Dr. Ahmet Kara of Oxford University.
+++ Conferences 2019
Our conference series starts on 19.01.19 with the annual symposium in NRW. In cooperation with the Adult Education Centre Cologne (Volkshochschule) and with support of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation as well as Civaka Azad – Kurdish Centre for Public Relations e.V. we will focus here on the topic „The ´new`Turkey and its challengers“. This conference is scheduled to take place at the Forum of Adult Education Centre (Volkshochschule) Neumarkt in Cologne/Germany from 13:00 Till 18 o’clock.
On 26.01.19 Kurd-Akad conferences will continue in Hamburg, Germany in the W3 – workshop for international culture and politics (Werkstatt für internationale Kultur und Politik in Hamburg) further with the conference topic „refugee goal „Germany“: War and migration from the perspective of the minorities in the Near East. This conference is also supported by the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation and Civaka Azad.
On 23.02.19, the conference „Mother tongue and multilingualism: multifactorial aspects, challenges and opportunities“ will follow at Bielefeld University from 11:30 to 17:30 on the occasion of the International Mother tongue Day. This conference is a cooperation event of Kurd-Akad, the Association of Kurdish Teachers e.V. and the Kurdish Institute Germany e.V..
The conference „The war in the Middle East: alternative future models in the context of education and social change“ will take place on 13.04.19 from 13:00 Till 17:00 o’clock in the Saalbau Bockenheim in Frankfurt am Main Germany.
+++ Workshop LMU
On 20.10.18, in cooperation with the Ludwigs-Maximilian University Munich – Department of Communication Studies and the International Centre for Integration and Migration Research at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Kurd-Akad organized a workshop on the subject of „Kurdish women and the public“. Experts from the media and academia examined the various facets of this comprehensive topic. As in the previous year, an idea and invitation for the next workshop in cooperation with the university emerged.
+++ Kurd-Akad ideas workshop
On 15.12.18 Kurd-Akad held its first ideas workshop in Bremen. After „AS IS“ analyse, the visions and future perspectives of Kurd-Akad were in focus. Central aspects were decentralisation, the training of multipliers, the expansion of working groups and institutionalisation.
+++ Cooperation with Rojava Universität
The working group that was established for this purpose has already met twice, on 28.10 and 22.12. Essential aspects for a summer school have been defined. The exchange and transfer of knowledge is the main focus.
+++ Event in honor of Prof. Birkar in London
Kurdish Acedemics have discussed about the challenges of higher education in Kurdistan at the event that was scheduled On 13.10.18 in London to honor Prof. Dr. Kocer Birkar for his science award „Fields Medal 2018“
+++ Excursion to London
From 30.11 to 02.12.18 we traveled again to London. On 01.11.18 a meeting with academics from Great Britain took place at the SOAS University. We were very happy about the lively interest and look forward to a good cooperation.
+++ Conference in European Parlement
This year the 15th International Conference of the EUTCC took place in the European Parliament. We were not only represented here by two board members, but were also significantly involved in the organisation. We are currently working on the conference brochure.
+++ Soft Skills Education
Also in 2019 we will again offer soft skills seminars for the main and honorary office. The flyer with current topics and dates will be published shortly.
