Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear friends,
Once again this year, we will publish our newsletter every three months.
Board meetings These took place this quarter on 9 February and 18 March.
Conference of Kurdish doctors and allied professions
We are pleased to have held the first professional group-specific conference on 16 January.
About 45 mostly doctors from different European countries exchanged views on health systems in Kurdistan, humanitarian aid and health-related aspects concerning the Kurdish diaspora. We evaluated the conference with a survey among the participants. The conclusion: the conference was successful, a continuation is desired. Preparations for the next conference will start soon.
Our annual symposium in cooperation with the Volkshochschule Köln and with the support of Civaka Azad – Kurdish Centre for Public Relations was this year entitled “Turkey: Continuities, Wars and Kurdish Perspectives”. Social scientist Münevver Azizoğlu-Bazan, political scientist Alp Kayserilioğlu as well as the (former) MPs Nuran İmir and Ziya Pir discussed under the moderation of the political scientist Ismail Küpeli and our co-chairwoman.
Symposium on National Unity The symposium entitled “From division to unity: challenges and options for Kurdish academics” will take place on 17 April 2021 online. Registrations are possible by email until 12 April.
Kurdish Language Day
On 15 May, we will hold a conference on this together with the Kurdish Teachers’ Association and the Kurdish Institute. We will publish the programme soon.
The preparations for an online general assembly with digital voting, scheduled for 30 May, have been completed.
We have published three statements this quarter: firstly against the attacks of the Turkish press on our doctors’ conference and secondly in solidarity with the students and teachers of Boğaziçi University and the HDP.
Best wishes for health and best regards
